The TellerScan TS500 teller check scanner is a full-featured model for document capture at the branch. It has a top speed of 200 documents per minute, and comes loaded with modern features, including 600 dpi color ID card image capture, and automatic alignment (straightening) of checks in the feeder. It was also the very first teller capture scanner with an automated cleaning function!
The TellerScan TS500 can also be paired with our SecureLink appliance, a plug-in network adapter for use in virtual branch environments. Simply put, it’s The Secure Choice® in teller capture.
With the TS500, we’ve put production speed scanning at the teller window, matching the 200 documents per minute of back-counter check scanners. A smaller desktop footprint saves you space, and an improved drive belt keeps noise levels to a minimum.
Whether you’re using it for daily customer-facing transactions or bulk batch processing, the TS500 fits comfortably in any role you ask of it.
Modular options for a USB hub and thermal receipt printer are paired with a high-resolution 600 dpi camera for ID card image capture; and using and maintaining the TS500 is easy. The Smart LED lets you know when it’s time for cleaning, and the automated cleaning system keeps your check scanner operating at peak performance. For efficiency, versatility, and ease of use, the TS500 is the complete package.
We took the guesswork out of scanner maintenance by giving the TS500 an automated cleaning mode. Since most dirt and debris builds up on the front intake rollers, our one-of-a-kind system gives you a mechanical assist, and holds the cleaning card in place until that area is clean. On older-generation teller capture scanners, the user had to hold the card in place by hand, and many did not remember to do this. Our automated cleaning system ensures maximum effectiveness and keeps your scanner in top shape!
The TellerScan TS500 was our first-ever scanner with automated cleaning, and it’s proven so popular that it’s been included on every new model since!
We built the TS500 with simple-to-open hinged covers to give you easy access to your scanner’s inside.
Most key components that experience wear and tear are user-replaceable, so you can keep your scanner running longer without costly repairs.
The straightforward design of the TS500 also makes it easier to perform routine maintenance like replacing the ink cartridge, wiping the image sensor glass, or replacing the discriminator roller.
Originally introduced as part of the SmartSource family, the ReceiptNOW Elite teller receipt printer now works with the TellerScan TS500 as well. Using a baseplate adapter (pictured at left) that’s included with every unit, the modular ReceiptNow device fits snugly underneath the scanner to add this key capability without taking up any more space on your countertop.
You’ll never need to replace another inkjet cartridge or ribbon with the ReceiptNOW Elite — all you’ll ever have to change is the paper! Since they run in a continuous-feed mode, unlike ink-based devices that print a few lines at a time, thermal printers are also much faster. (note: The check endorser in the scanner itself is a separate inkjet-based device.)
Make editable templates that allow you to display your logo, tagline, or whatever other messaging you’d like in addition to the transaction information. Since thermal printing doesn’t use ink, you can put your own branding on each receipt without the added expense of buying custom pre-printed paper rolls.
Headquartered in Rapid City, SD, Security First Bank serves an area of more than 100,000 square miles across South Dakota and Nebraska, encompassing some of the most isolated territory in the continental U.S. Nonetheless, they’ve been successfully operating a virtual environment across their entire branch network for well over a decade.
Besides their status as early adopters of modern branch networking, Security First was also one of the first customers for the TellerScan TS500. They used the SecureLink appliance to add full network compatibility to their scanners, greatly improving their efficiency at the teller window.
Read on to learn why network-ready peripherals are an often-overlooked, but crucial part of a virtual branch environment — as well as taking a look at some of the creative ways this regional bank has used network technology even in the most remote locations…
