SmartSource® Expert Elite Network Check Scanner Supported by Silver Bullet Ranger® API

SmartSource EliteNorthbrook, IL, May 9, 2017 – Digital Check’s recently released SmartSource Expert Elite check scanner is supported by the popular Silver Bullet Ranger® API, making it compatible with a wide array of banking software systems. The new Expert Elite is a network-enabled version of the high-speed SmartSource Elite series scanners for teller and branch back-counter check image capture.

The update allows browser-based control of all current-generation SmartSource network scanners, including the SmartSource Expert and Expert Elite models. That also means network scanners can be added with minor or even zero changes to applications that already support USB-connected SmartSource scanners. Additionally, the Ranger API allows both legacy Digital Check and SmartSource-branded scanners to operate over the same interface.

“It’s important that Digital Check hardware be as simple as possible to integrate with existing applications in the market – and as a widely supported industry standard, Silver Bullet’s API makes that feasible,” said Rick Ooten, Digital Check’s VP of Product Management. “Our goal is that any partner or software provider that wants to offer the Expert Elite will be able to begin that integration work without delays or complications.”

As the newest addition to the Digital Check® scanner lineup, the Expert Elite adds networking capability to SmartSource’s popular Elite series, its most advanced family of high-speed check scanners. In addition to standard Windows office networks, it is suited for use in “thin-client” teller environments using Citrix or VMWare. That versatility allows banks and end users to explore a wide range of creative deployment options in the branch or back office.

“As the universal check scanner interface, Ranger is designed to provide plug-and-play communication to all popular scanners,” said Bryan Clark, CEO of Silver Bullet Technology. “With the need for network-based scanners increasing, the SmartSource Expert and Expert Elite are sure to be a popular in both teller capture and remote deposit environments. Most software applications that utilize Ranger will be able to support these network scanners without changes.”

The Expert Elite scanner is available now from Digital Check and its worldwide distributor network.
