Northbrook, IL, October 25, 2023 – Digital Check Corp. announces an updated version of its SecureLink by Digital Check® network API, which adds several popular features that were previously available on only its non-network scanners. This updated API comes pre-installed on the new TellerScan® TS250 scanners and specified models of CheXpress® CX35 scanners that were announced last week, and also with all currently supported SmartSource® Expert Elite scanners starting in mid-2024.
Devices using the SecureLink API can access Digital Check’s Special Document Handling, an image-processing utility that cleans up background noise in hard-to-scan documents. This feature uses a process called zoned thresholding to automatically adjust contrast and light levels in different parts of the document, based on the information contained in the MICR line. This capability has previously only been available through the Digital Check API (DCC API) for non-network scanners, alongside a similar feature in the SmartSource SmartPVA API.
Additional features will also include automatic correction of upside-down images, as well as the advanced Double Feed No-Stop system. While all scanners employ basic double-feed detection by measuring the thickness of the paper being scanned, Double Feed No-Stop greatly reduces false positives using additional metrics.
“As we introduce this new generation of scanning equipment, a major focus is on what we call Converging Intelligence – retaining the features that have made our products successful in the past, while taking advantage of new ideas that we’ve developed in the meantime,” says Jeff Hempker, Digital Check’s president. “This update is a significant step in combining the best of the TellerScan, CheXpress and SmartSource product lines, and bringing it all to a network environment. The updated API will expand compatibility options for our customers and help keep them Ready for Tomorrow.”
The new SecureLink API will be an option for both the new CheXpress CX35 RNDIS models and all TellerScan TS250 models at launch, which will also contain improvements that make it easier to switch between the SecureLink API and other Digital Check APIs. Both new scanner models include a newly announced feature, called SimpleSwitch, that allows near-instantaneous switching between traditional USB and network operation via RNDIS with a button-press sequence.
